A seminar titled "Creating 21st Century Maritime Silk Road and Shenyang Expanding Economic and Trade Cooperation with ASEAN Free Trade Area" opened Tuesday in Shenyang, capital of Liaoning province in Northeast China.

It was jointly held by China-ASEAN Business Council and China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Shenyang Sub-council.

Xu Ningning, executive president of China-ASEAN Business Council, said Malaysia is China's largest trading partner, with bilateral trade last year exceeding 100 billion U.S. dollars. Port Klang is the country's second largest port in Southeast Asia, and an important stopover on the "Maritime Silk Road".

Entrepreneurs in Shenyang seize the opportunity brought by the Maritime Silk Road to increase trade links with ASEAN countries and further explore the international market, Xu suggested.

Deputy secretary of the municipal government of Shenyang Wang Huanmiao said, the city will build new platform to offer better service for foreign trade and communication, aiming at building community of common destiny with ASEAN.

He encouraged enterprises in Shenyang to open the ASEAN market with their best products and service, which is not only conducive to their own development, but also to economic growth in Shenyang.

More than 200 local entrepreneurs discussed new business opportunities brought up by "21st Century New Maritime Silk Road."
