The metal oxide surge arrester (MOA) type of YH10W-9 is used to protect 9~12kV power system equipment from damage under lightning and switching overvoltage.

High quality zinc oxide varistors are the main functional part of the arresters, by their excellent voltage-current characteristics, which act as a low resistance to the large discharge currents so as to limit the voltage between the arresters terminals. And as a high resistance at normal power frequency operating voltage so as to limit the magnitude of follow current. The MOA can reliably protect electric apparatus of power system from overvoltage damages, and it may have not any gaps.
